Shadows Of Guta (Excerpt 221) Next Time
At first, Stephen looks at Zsofia, puzzled that she has forgotten he walked Tamas home after his strange encounter with him earlier in the afternoon. Almost immediately however, he realizes she was at work during that span of time and is completely unaware of her brother’s excursion. Quickly he begins to explain what happened and tells her of the conversation he had with her grandfather.
“So grandfather actually said that? He said you should leave?” She looks surprised and a bit angry at the same time.
“It’s okay, he was nice about it and I would like to talk with him again but, now is not the time.” He looks her in the eyes and there is another pause to their conversation until Stephen clears his throat. “Ahem, so. . . are you going to be okay walking back? Alone?”
“Yes, I can manage,” she grins as she leans toward him kissing him on the cheek before quickly turning to walk away. “You enjoy the breads and muffins. I’ll collect the basket the next time I see you.”
